I have these speakers connected to my MacBook Pro laptop, which coincidently I also bought from here. Now if you were to look at the specs, you may not be blown away, but when got them hooked up, the volume and bass are far more than adequate for a home laptop system. The sound is fine as is. I use these to listen to my iTunes songs, and it sounds just as if it were coming from a stereo radio. It sounds polished, and I believe that one my not be able to blow these speakers. They have solid wood walls, so you won't hear vibrating speakers as I did with the hard plastic casing of my older system. I have only had to leave the speaker volume dial half-way and control the volume from my laptop and from iTunes. This is truly all the volume you will need to get excellent sound. I can tell you that I showed the speaker system off to a friend, and she is going to be buying a pair of these two, and she's not easily impressed. If you purchase these speakers, you will not be disappointed.
